The grey-headed lapwing Vanellus cinereus is a summer resident in Ji’an, Jiangxi province. The breeding ecology of grey-headed lapwings was investigated in Ji’an from 2010 to 2011. This species migrated into the area on February 20 at the earliest time, and left on September 17 at the longest duration. Residence duration was about seven months. The egg-laying started in early March. The clutch size was 3.8 (n=14), with eggs having the average volume index of 48.0 mm×34.5 mm and weight of 28.8 g (n=38). Parent birds began to incubate after all eggs of a clutch were laid. The incubating behavior was observed in both sexes. Incubation period lasted 28 to 31 days and the hatchability was 90.15%.
