Abstract:The morphological constructure of digestive system of Spilornis cheela has been observed by naked eyes and under dissecting microscope. The results show that there are many bomblike papillas pointing towards hind section in roof of tongue; the papillas at the end of two branches of tongue root become stick like; these papilas can prevent the escaping of food; it has developed crop; it has sharp beaks for lacerating the food; and the small intestine is very much developed but cecum is very degenerate. According to the comparison between Spilornis cheela and some other birds, the carnivorous birds have very developed small intestine and undeveloped cecum, but herbivorous birds have mild developed small intestine and very developed cecum.
