Research on Toxic Effects of Copper to Caenorhabditis elegans

Abstract:To explain the long-term effects of copper toxicity on Caenorhabditis elegans, its biological indicators, such as lifespan, aging process, upgrowth, reproduction and activity, were studied by using multiple generations screeningC. elegans with tolerific-copper from laboratory. Results show that the tolerific nematodes to copper possessed been different physiological characteristics from the wild type (eg. shorten lifespan, pro-senescence, inhibitory development, generation extend, reproductive rate reduce, behavior defects). The research in this paper provided the experimental data to understand and clarify the toxic effects of copper.
