Abstract:This paper deals with preliminary studies on tail autotomy and regeneration in the common lizard Lacerta vivipara from 2001 to 2006 in Heilongjiang Province. The results showed that the percent of tail autotomy was 28.26% in neonates and 45.45% in adults, which could be explained that more survival pressure in adults. Activity time was related with the length and the position of the severed tails. The growth speed of regeneration tails was more quickly than original tails and a scale of squama was the longest in regeneration tails.
