Polymorphisms of Milk Epithelial MUC1 Gene and Protein of Goat

Abstract:The objective of the study was to examine the genetic polymorphisms of milk MUC1 gene of goat breeds in Sichuan province. Using primers designed according to partial sequences of goat MUC1 gene from GenBank, a PCR method was established to amplify the variable number tandem repeats of goat MUC1 gene. The amplified fragment was 1.7~2.2 kb in length. A total of 3 alleles and 5 genotypes were detected in the four goat breeds studied, with high proportion of homozygote, and there were differences in genotype and allele frequencies among the goat breeds. Our experiment has provided a reliable protocol for assaying genetic polymorphisms of goat milk MUC1.
