An Investigation of Ant Species in Houses and Courtyards in the Chengdu Area

Abstract:Ant species in homes and courtyards in the Chengdu area were investigated. 26 ant species under 12 genera and 3 subfamilies were collected. Ants in subfamily Myrmicinae were dominant in this region in terms of species and quantity; the dominant species were Pheidole indica Mayr and Aphaenogaster smythiesi Forel. Pheidole indica Mayr, Aphaenogaster smythiesi Foreland and Paratrechina vividula Nylander were the most widely distributed ant species in homes and courtyards in the Chengdu area.
