Effect on Blood Fat Levels of Hyperlipemia Rats after Irradiation with Focused Ultrasound to the Yong Quan Acupoint

Abstract:
Objective To observe the effects of focused ultrasound irradiation on the Yong Quan acupiont at reducing blood lipid levels. Methods Hyperlipemia rat models were established by feeding the rats with high-fat feedstuff. The Yong Quan acupoint of hyperlipemia rats was exposed to focused ultrasound irradiation, after which the levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C), and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were determined. Results TC and TG levels in hyperlipemia rats were significantly reduced after focused ultrasound irradiated the Yong Quan acupoint (P<0.05). No significant difference was found between the ultrasound group and the acupuncture group. Conclusion Focused ultrasound irradiation to the Yong Quan acupoint in hyperlipemia rats can reduce TC and TG levels significantly and plays an effective role in regulation of blood lipids.
