Effect of Corticosterone on Ornithine Decarboxylase and Antizyme Gene Expression in Rat Regenerating Liver

Abstract:The male SD rats (180~200 g) were used to investigate the effect of corticosterone on ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) and antizyme mRNA levels in early regenerating liver induced by partial hepatectomy with RT-PCR. Results indicated that corticosterone inhibited dose-dependently the level of ODC mRNA. The effects of 10 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg body weight corticosterone on antizyme mRNA expression were not obvious, however, 40 mg/kg corticosterone treatment could stimulate antizyme gene transcription.
