Abstract:Home ranges of Emei Shan Liocichla (Liocichla omeiensis) during non-breeding season (from January to February) and breeding season (from June to August) were studied using radio tracking technique in 2016 in Mount Emei and Sichuan Laojunshan National Nature Reserve, respectively. The results showed that, in non-breeding season, the home-range estimates with Fixed Kernel (60%, 95%) were 2 542 m2±263 m2 and 9 659 m2±975 m2 (n=4), and those in breeding season were 1 581 m2±1 362 m2 and 13 040 m2±6 003 m2 (n=2), respectively. The percent overlapping home ranges between individuals were largely over 50% in non-breeding season, and between the mates were more than 70%. This phenomenon was probably linked to the pairing, territorial behaviors and habitat quality. In addition, L. omeiensis exhibited obvious diurnal-movement rhythm. The female and male had 2 (i.e. morning and evening) and 3 (i.e. morning, noon and evening) activity peaks, respectively.
