Characteristics and Analysis of Echolocation Calls in Rhinolophus huananus

Abstract:Using Petterson D500X ultrasound recorder, echolocation calls of Rhinolophus huananus at flying and resting status were recorded respectively. The records showed that echolocation calls of R. huananus was FM-CF-FM type with 1-2 harmonics. Based on the results of t-test, the peaking frequency, pulse duration and inter-pulse interval were significantly different between flying and resting statuses. Furthermore, peaking frequency of R. huananus and R. macrotis at flying status were different, and they could be a good acoustical indicator to distinguish the two species.
