Abstract:
Eimeria moschus sp. nov. (Fig. 1)
Host: domestic Moschus berezovskii.
Location: Intestine.
Locality: Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province.
Oocyst broakly ovoid, 32.537.5×25.030.0µm. Their length-width ratio ranged 1.21.4, average 1.3; with 2-layered wall, about 0.91.5µm thick, the outer layer greenish yellow, non-smooth, the inner layer yellowish brown; with a micropyle 67µm in diameter. Sporocysts ellipsoidal 1620×7.510µm, average 17.58.2µm, their length-width ratio ranged 1.92.3, average 2.1, without stieda body. Sporozoites are elongate, and lie lengthwise head to tail in the sporocysts and a large refractile globules at each end. Sporocysts residual body are smaller granular. In mature oocyst no oocyst residuum and polar body found. The sporulation time is 4872 hours.
The new species similar to E. caprina Lima, 1979, but differs from the latter in the host and shape of sporozoites and refractile globules, without polar body.
Eimeria jinfengshanenisis sp. nov. (Fig. 2)
Host: domestic Moschus berezovskii.
Location: Intestine.
Locality: Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province.
Date: June 1989; October 1990.
Oocyst ovoid, 25.032.5×17.518.5µm,average 28.1×18.3µm. Their length-width ratio ranged 1.41.8, average 1.6; with 2-layered wall 0.50.8µm thick, the outer layer smooth, greenish or yellowish, the inner brown yellow, with a inconspicuous micropyle. Sporocysts are ellipsoidal, 10.011.3×5.07.5µm, average 11.1×5.9µm. Their length-width ratio ranged 1.72µm, average 1.9, without Stieda body. Sporozoites are elongate, and lie lengthwise head to tail in sporocysts, with a refractile globule at the large end. Sporocysts residual body are smaller granular. In mature oocyst no oocyst residuum and polar body found. The sporulation time 2448 hours.
The new species similar to E. faurei (Moussu and Marotel, 1902) Martin, 1909, but differs from it in the host, measure of oocyst and sporocyst, without Stieda body and polar body.
So far, no report about the Eimeria in the host 5 species of Moschus. The two new species are first described in the host Moschus.
