Breeding Ecology of Enicurus leschenaulti

Abstract:From April to August in 2011 and April to August in 2012, the reproductive behavior of Enicurus leschenaulti was investigated by point observation method. The results showed that E. leschenaulti were mainly encountered in valley, mountain stream, reservoir and pond. The breeding period of E. leschenaulti was from April to June. Nest-building would last for 6~9 days, and the nest was 2 layers. Clutch size was 3~4 and incubation period would last for 17~19 days. Nestling would remain in nests for 15~17 days. Moreover, the growth data of culmen, tarsometatarsus, the third primary flight feather and the length of tail were measured in this study.
