Induction of Serum Vitellogenin in Misgurnus anguillicaudatus Against m-dihydroxybenzene and o-dihydroxybenzene

In order to study the induction of m-dihydroxybenzene and o-dihydroxybenzene on serum vitellogenin (Vtg) of male loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus), male loaches were exposed to the four concentrations of m-dihydroxybenzene (5.287 mg/L, 6.531 mg/L8.072 mg/L and 10.000 mg/L) and o-dihydroxybenzene (16.708 mg/L, 17.742 mg/L, 18.836 mg/L and 20.00 mg/L) for 7 d, 14 d, 21 d and 28 d, respectively. The level of serum Vtg was examined by measuring the alkali-labile phosphorus content of the lipid-free protein fraction. The results showed that the level of serum Vtg began to significantly increase after 7 d in m-dihydroxybenzene at the concentration 5.287 mg/L and o-dihydroxybenzene at 16.708 mg/L, and increased with the increasing of exposure concentrations under certain exposure conditions. Additionally, m-dihydroxybenzene could induce a higher Vtg level than o-dihydroxybenzene. These results also indicated that both m-dihydroxybenzene and o-dihydroxybenzene worked as environmental estrogen to induce Vtg synthesis of male loaches and the effect would be enhanced over time or with the increasing of exposure concentrations.
