Embryonic Development of Percocypris pingi

Abstract:

The embryos were obtained by artificial induction of hormone-injecting in mature Percocypris pingi. The embryo development of  P. pingi could be divided into 7 stages and 32 developmental phases by consecutive observation. The mature unfertilized eggs were demersal, yellow or orange-yellowish, slightly sticky and 2.61 mm±0.05 mm in diameter. The diameter of egg membrane expanded to 3.51 mm±0.15 mm in water at 1 h 40 min after fertilization. The embryo development would last for 164 hours at water temperature of 15.7±0.7. For the newly hatched larvae of P. pingi, the total length was 10.05 mm±0.39 mm, with 51 pairs of sarcomere, the blood circulatory system was obvious and the pectoral fins were also formed.
