Abstract:

Database was constructed based on extensive and systematic data collection and collating, then distribution of babblers in China, distribution similarity and relationships among geographic units were analyzed by geographic information system (GIS). The results suggested that there were 130 species of Chinese babblers belong to 26 genera, and showing an uneven horizontal distribution. Most of the species were distributed in Southwest Mountain Subregion (114 species), followed by South Yunnan Mountain Subregion (94 species). Hengduan Mountains and South Yunnan Mountains were the distribution centers of species diversity. The distribution similarities were different in Palaearctic realm compared to Oriental realm. In general, the zoogeographical subregions in China can be divided into two big branches: Palaearctic realm and Oriental realm.
