Abstract:Acute toxicity and physiological toxic effects of various doses of beta cypermethrin on Bufo gargarizans tadpoles were evaluated by using the static-renewal toxicity method. The results showed that 96 h-LC50 value of beta cypermethrin for Bufo gargarizans tadpoles was 1.147 mg/L, indicated an intermediate toxic level. The total-anti-oxidizing-capability (T-AOC) of tadpoles gradually decreased with the extension of the expose times. However, T-AOC of tadpoles presented hormesis temporarily and then decreased when the concentration of beta cypermethrin was higher than 1 μg/L. The activity of glutathione S transferase (GSH-ST) in tadpoles would significantly increase when the drug concentration was higher than 1 μg/L. The result suggested beta cypermethrin is toxic to Bufo gargarizans tadpoles.
